Biography

Delphine Galou was born in Paris and studied at the same time Philosophy at the Sorbonne University and piano and singing. She has been awarded prizes at numerous singing contests in France. In 2004 she was chosen "Discovery of the Year" by the French Association for the Promotion of Young Artists.

2000/01 she became a member of the ensemble of the "Jeunes Voix du Rhin" and performed at the Opéra national du Rhin roles such as Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Mercedes (Carmen). Between 2002 and 2008 she was a guest in Rossini's La Pietra del Paragone (title role) in Rennes and Freiburg, Purcell's Dido & Aeneas (Dido) in Rennes, Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges at the Angers Nantes Opera, Eugen Onegin (Olga) at the Dijon Opera, La Périchole (title role) at the Dijon Opera, Haydn's Il Mondo della Luna in Rennes and Luxembourg, Giulio Cesare (title role) in Caen, A Midsummer Night's Dream (Hermia) in Caen, Toulon and Nancy, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice (Orfeo) in Vienna, Il Giustino (Eufemia) by Giovanni Legrenzi) and Niobe (Nerea) by Agostino Steffani at the Schwetzingen Festival. The 2008/09 season was highlighted by two most acclaimed productions : Radamisto (Zenobia) at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe and Orlando Furioso by Vivaldi (title role) at the Basel Opera.

Beyond her participation in the revival of Radamisto in Karlsruhe, Delphine Galou is in 2009/10 focusing on concert performances : Messiah on Germany tour with the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble and Thomas Hengelbrock, Bach's h-minor Mass at the Epau Festival with the Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon, Handel's Alessandro (title role) under Eduardo Lopez Banzo at the Beaune Festival. Further plans include her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Niobe) as well as Handel's Aci & Galatea (Galatea) with Les Arts Florissants, The rape of Lucretia (Lucretia) at Angers Nantes Opera, Handel's Alcina (Britomarte) at the St Gall Opera and Mahler's Symphony Nr. 2 with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège under the baton of François-Xavier Roth.

Delphine Galou has also collaborated with the Ensemble Les Siècles (Handel's Giulio Cesare) and with the Accademia Bizantina under Ottavio Dantone (title role in Rinaldo at the Beaune Festival).
