Biography
Anaïk Morel was born in Lyon (France). She completed her musical studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon with Francoise Pollet and graduated top of the class.In 2004, she was awarded the Premier Prix at the Pierre Bernac Competition in St Jean de Luz, and in 2006, the Prix du Public and the Second Prix at the International Competition for Chamber Music in Lyon where she distinguisted herself as a passionate interpret of french songs and lieder.
In 2006/07, she joined the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. During the two years she spent there, she was offered the opportunity to perform at the Bayerische Staatsoper parts such as Federica (Luisa Miller), Fenena (Nabucco), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Sandmännchen (Hänsel und Gretel), Blumenmädchen (Parsifal), Susanna (Chowanschtschina), Contessa di Ceprano and Paggio (Rigoletto), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos). In addition, she was invited by Kent Nagano to sing L'Enfant et les Sortilèges (title role) with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.
Since September 2008, she has been a member of the Ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper, performing in Carmen (Mercédès), Nabucco (Fenena), Falstaff (Meg Page), Hänsel und Gretel (Hänsel), Dialogues des Carmélites (Soeur Mathilde), Palestrina (Silla). Daniel Barenboim has invited her to take part in 2010/11 in his new production of Die Walküre (Schwertleite) at the Teatro alla Scala and at the Staatsoper Berlin.
Anaïk Morel appears regularly in concert and recital. During this season she is singing her first Marguerite in Berlioz La Damnation de Faust with the Orchestre de Bretagne on concert tour in France and performing with the Orchestre de Picardie (Landowski's La Prison) and with the Orchestre national de Lyon (Stravinski's Pulcinella).
