Biography
Alec Avedissian was born in 1982 in Rousse (Bulgaria). He studied first mathematics, graduated then at the State Academy of Music in the class of Professor Selimsky (2006). Subsequently he passed a Master in Music. From 2002 on, he was attending masterclasses of Alexandrina Miltcheva. He also studied with Anna Tomowa-Sintow and Stefka Evstatieva in Sofia as well as with Sonia Ghazarian in Vienna. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Opera Studio CNIPAL in Marseille.Alec Avedissian won in 2005 the first prize and the "Schubert" special prize at the international singing competition in Rousse as well as the third prize at the Competition of the Hristo Barmbarov Akademie in Sofia. In 2006 he was finalist at the international singing competition in Toulouse and in 2007 finalist at the Opera Competition in Marseille. He has just been awarded a grant from the Wiener Staatsoper for young bulgarian singers.
He made his debut on stage with the role of Malatesta (Don Pasquale) in the opera company of his homecity. His opera repertoire also includes roles such as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), Belcore (L'Elisir d'Amore), Onegin (Eugen Onegin), Zurga (Les Pêcheurs de Perles), Marcello (La Boheme).
In 2007/08 he was touring Marseille, Avignon and Toulon with the productions of the CNIPAL. In 2010 he will perform Schaunard (La Bohème) at the Saint-Etienne Opera.
Alec Avedissian is regularly takes part in concert in Bulgaria, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and France. He is also a passionate lieder singer (Mahler, Schubert, Rachmaninov, Tschaikovski, among others).
